How to use it
- Pick a shape, or start from one of the presets under the preview.
- Open the sections on the right and set the length, thickness, gap, colour, opacity and outline of each part.
- Switch the preview background between a dark scene, a light scene and two Los Santos views to check the contrast.
- Use the zoom buttons to look at it closely, and the spread buttons to see it while moving or firing.
- Go to Output and take what you need: the overlay resource, a PNG, an SVG or the console lines.
Ctrl + Z undoes, Ctrl + Shift + Z redoes. Your crosshair is kept in the address bar, so "Copy share link" gives someone else the exact same one, and it is saved in this browser between visits.
The outputs
| Output | What you get |
|---|---|
| NUI overlay | A complete resource: fxmanifest.lua, client.lua and a self contained ui/index.html. This is the one that works on any server, for everyone who joins. |
| PNG | 128, 256 or 512 px with transparency, drawn at its real pixel size or scaled up to fill the image. |
| SVG | The same shapes as vectors, for your own HTML overlay, a release image or an editor. |
| Console settings | The FiveM cl_crosshair convars that come closest to your design, plus the two game reticule settings. |
Console settings, honestly
GTA V has no crosshair commands. It has two options in Settings, Display: Weapon Target and Simple Reticule Size. FiveM exposes those as profile_reticule and profile_reticuleSize.
On top of that the FiveM client draws its own crosshair, the one behind cl_customCrosshair. It copies the Counter-Strike crosshair, so it can do four bars, a square centre dot, a black outline, one colour and one opacity. It cannot do circles, brackets, chevrons, rounded ends or a second colour. The Console tab maps your design onto it as closely as it goes and lists everything that gets lost on the way, next to a preview of what the client will really draw.
Those settings are per player and are saved with their FiveM settings, so they are not something you can ship to your players. The one thing a server can do is switch the built in crosshair off with setr cl_customCrosshair false. If you want everyone to see the same crosshair, use the overlay resource.
Tips
- A 1 px black outline is what makes a crosshair readable over a white wall or a bright sky. Keep it on.
- Thin lines at 1080p disappear. Two pixels is usually the smallest that still reads.
- Check your crosshair at 1x before exporting. The zoom is there to design with, not to judge the real size.
- A gap large enough to see through beats a dense cross for roleplay, where you spend most of the time not shooting.
- Green and cyan hold up on most of the map. Red vanishes on brick and on brake lights.
